The background music doesn't seem to function properly. At first, it seems that
the music isn't there at all. At closer inspection, the music is there all the
time, even if you're not close the location where the music is supposed to be
coming from. It plays VERY quietly, and I only heard it when I turned down the
sounds effects all the way and cranked up my speakers.

Two examples are the following: 1) The very begining of the game you can hear
the gay bar music no matter where you are. The stereo effect also seems correct
relative to where you are standing and facing. The arcade music never seems to
play. 2) Later when you are in the area where the bank is, you can hear the
music for the bank no matter where you are. The asylum music doesn't play at
all, though.

The map music, however, seems to play just fine. I havn't gotten any further in
the game so I can't comment on other areas at this point. I should also point
out that while adjusting the sound levels, the game crashed a few times.

Here's some more info - I am running Mandrake 10.0 with on an AMD 1800 XP with
1GB RAM and an nVidia TI4600. The soundcard (chip?) is an on board C-Media
CM8738 which seems to work well with everything else, including UT2004. I'm
using the alsa (1.0.2) drivers w/oss emulation. I tried the straight oss
drivers, but it locked up at boot time. I also have an old installation of
Mandrake 9.0 which I tried with both alsa and oss drivers. It had the same
music problem with both.

Ok, now I've tried replacing my on-board sound chip with an SB Live card. The
problem still exists.

Not too long ago, I finally had a chance to try this game using a different distro. I ran it under Ubuntu 5.10 on my laptop (Dell 9300 w/Nvidia 6800). It ran pretty much the same, with the same background music problem. Is there some kind of configuration I need to change/implement? I've looked around on the web, but haven't found anything.
