Description Juan Luis Baptiste 2005-10-04 16:40:24 EDT
Hi,

I'm trying to play in multiplayer mode with no luck. When I select multiplayer
mode, I can't see any of the servers running on my LAN in the ingame broser,
or if I specify an IP address to connect to, it doesn't work either, it just
sits there with the message "Awaiting for challenge". This seems to be a
rather old bug, I found this in ID software's Quake 3 FAQ:

http://zerowing.idsoftware.com/linux/q3a/#browser

"Servers don't show up in the ingame browser

The reason for this has not been clearly identified yet, seems to be related
to upgrade from older versions. Deleting ~/.q3a/baseq3/q3config.cfg fixes the
problem (you will have to reconfigure your bindings)"

I've tried that workaround with no luck. I'm using Mandrake 10.1.

Thanks

Possibly give
http://svn.icculus.org/quake3/trunk/code/unix/LinuxSupport/udp_wide_README.txt?rev=24&view=markup
a look. I'm not sure this is your problem, but it sounds a lot like it.

Please update or the bug gets resolved.
Comment 3 Juan Luis Baptiste 2005-10-09 16:42:33 EDT
Well, I found the problem. The windows clients where 1.11 version and I had >
1.32b. We upgraded windows clients to 1.32 and now everything works.

Setting a QA contact on all ioquake3 bugs, even resolved ones. Sorry if you get a flood of email from this, it should only happen once. Apologies for the incovenience.
