Description Zachary J. Slater 2005-12-04 20:02:30 EST
We should get some kind of make install on linux and mac, most people expect it. Mac users will probably be a little more comfortable typing that than following the insanely dense instructions in the web site, too.

'make install' wouldn't make much sense on Mac OS because Applications can be installed anywhere and there is no easy way to find out where Quake3 is located from the makefile.
what should be done is create a completely finished application bundle that the user can drag himself to his "Quake 3" folder, whereever it may be ;->

How would "make install" differ from "make copyfiles", other than in name? That's all an install target would really do.

I'm not sure of the use of such a thing in the face of proper installers anyway. If somebody is intrepid enough to go compiling ioq3 themselves, they should be able to figure out how to install it too, and if not, they shouldn't be compiling it themselves :).

I want people to read instructions when make install fails, perhaps a suitable echo would be nice. If the instructions on the site are too dense, then they may need clarification.

Setting a QA contact on all ioquake3 bugs, even resolved ones. Sorry if you get a flood of email from this, it should only happen once. Apologies for the incovenience.
