Description Jon Kessler 2008-03-02 23:40:05 EST
On a Linux server the Dedicated dvar is hard set as being a WAN server. Unable to run a LAN server under Linux (currently running Fedora Core 8 64bit, with the required 32bit compat. library's)

Ran a dedicated server under Win XP pro to cross check weather or not it was a linux only problem. You can set the dvar +set dedicated 1 in widows and have it report back that it is actually running a LAN server in the console and have no visible master server communication.
Try the same thing with a Linux server and it will always report back that it is a dedicated Internet server and has master server communication.

Has this issue seen any development? Its been almost 2 weeks and I am very much in need of this being resolved as our local LAN group has a LARGE LAN coming up soon and we would like to run the COD4 server off of one of our Linux game servers. I would be willing to help test if someone has any progress.

I have this issue also when setting up a server for the lan. The server stays in dedicated internet mode even when you set dedicated to 1.
