Description János Illés 2008-12-01 14:30:03 EST
Xorg 1.5.3 inroduces enabled input hotplugging by default, and with that cursorkeys wont work in openbox dialogs (like client-list-combined or client-menu)
reconfigure solves the problem so:
<Mikachu>okay, so the keymap changed after starting openbox thenchanges keymap after the start of openbox

I'm running Xorg 1.7.3 with input hotplugging for all my devices. I cannot reproduce this problem with the menus.

Is this still an issue or is it something that Xorg has resolved?

Do you use more than one keyboard layout? If so, can you show your xkb configuration (from Hal or xorg.conf or wherever you have it)?

from what i can see, openbox always uses the "base" layout specified by the X server. while other applications may use the "current" layout, which is changed by various means. this is correct behaviour afaik, and so i think if you want openbox to use a different layout, you need to change your X config to set the desired layout as your base. practically speaking, the base layout is whatever comes first in your hal config/xorg.conf/whatever-is-setting-your-layouts. if you have config in more than one place they may be conflicting and causing problems for you as well. can you check these? thanks.

I've bought a new laptop a few months ago and i'm running windows on it. Currently I'm using linux in virtualbox, in which I cannot reproduce the error, but i have to mention now I have xorg-server 1.7.5 installed.

okay, thanks for replying.

im in a better position to test this stuff now. so if someone else reads this and has the same issue or similar, will you please leave a comment saying so. otherwise im going to mark this as fixed, until hearing otherwise.

I asked the archlinux community and it seems nobody has the issue anymore.
