"sketchup is actually running faster in linux than it does in vista...
however, i can't resize any of my tool windows (model info, component browser, material browser)... (arch linux i686, openbox3)"

To reproduce with Ubuntu Intrepid:

Install Sketchup 7 using a recent wine (1.1.11 is best; see
http://wiki.winehq.org/GoogleSketchup )
Start Sketchup and bring up one of the aforementioned windows, e.g.
Window / Materials)
Verify that you can resize it by dragging the lower right corner

Install Openbox 3 per https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Openbox
No need to make it the default. Just
 sudo aptitude install openbox obconf
 openbox --replace

Now try to resize that same window. You can't.

you can resize the windows with alt-rightbutton-drag. ill look into why the borders cant be used tho.

Metacity shows this when you resize the window with the borders:

Window manager warning: Received a _NET_WM_MOVERESIZE message for 0x4c00090 (Materials); these messages lack timestamps and therefore suck.

So WINE is telling Metacity to resize the window.

I ran SketchUp once, but I can no longer run it, it just crashes, so this will be hard to debug, but I don't think Wine was even telling openbox to resize the window with a _NET_WM_MOVERESIZE, i didn't see anything printed when i ran openbox with --debug.
