Installed on Arch Linux.  Changes screen resolution and goes black for a few seconds, then crashes with the following error message.

$ braid
cgc: unknown profile "unknown".

Haven't seen this before, but it suggests that you don't have a video card with shader support (or drivers that aren't installed correctly).

It's looking for a "profile" (that's Cg's term) that provides a shader language of some sort. Check your hardware and drivers, I guess.
