I'm a theme designer/script creator for openbox
(http://gamma.pnosker.com/ob3.php) and I've been using version 3 since
the first alphas. I was instantly hooked, and managed to get a lot of
Gentoo users over to it. Most of the Gentooers use my themes, or a
color modded version of my theme, but now they demand more themes :(.
I would really be interested in seeing support for rounded corners on
backgrounds, the overall window, button borders etc. The themer could
do 'window.label.bg: flat horizontal gradient rounded' for example and
would create a flat rounded rectangle with a horizontal gradient. This
would maintain the simplicity of openbox, but add better themeability.
I'm not a coder, so I can't create a patch for this, but if someone
could, it'd be appreciated. Starburst gradients would be nice too, but
I'll request that later. :D.

Hello theme developer! I will certainly consider this.. Writing circular gradients would be an interesting time.. heh.

But I was also wondering ! If you would be interested in making a splash screen/welcome screen image of sorts for Openbox. You can write me at danakj@orodu.net if you would be interested. :) That'd be really great.

New theme options of any kind will need to wait.
