Description Zeb Ford-Reitz 2011-12-18 09:13:32 EST
I installed Jamestown from the Humble Indie Bundle (the updated version from 2011-12-15). I then tried to start Jamestown from the installation directory (/usr/local/games/jamestown). The result is a black screen, while music from the game plays. Since I am unable to exit the program without rebooting my machine, I am not sure whether any anything is logged or printed to the console.

I installed the game as root, so I'm not sure whether that makes a difference, but I also tried starting the game as root, and was no more successful. I'm using Ubuntu 10.10 64-bit, and have an nVidia graphics card.

This is a big problem for me, as it completely prevents me from playing the game. I'm open to any workarounds.

Same problem. Alt-F4 worked to close it, so I used that to see if there was any console output, but nothing other than "Jamestown: Installed in '/home/________/jamestown'.
Jamestown: Using amd64 version."

Same problem here (game purchased in HumbleBundle6 and installed via Ubuntu software centre)
Black screen + music when I launch the game via the menu (Unity-dash) but I can launch the game in teminal if I go to the game directory (cd ~/.jamestown/install_path) and launch the game script ($ ./Jamestown-amd64)

This did't solve the problem but make the game playable...
