I'm running Shank on Ubuntu 11.10, standard mesa graphics driver, Intel HD 3000.
With the new build, there is no more segfault, the game runs fine even with blur and flashes (no green videos with standard mesa, only happens with xorg-edgers ppa mesa).

On the first boss level (the butcher), there is a famerate drop, and the game becomes nearly unplayable with or without the effects.

+1 on OSX Lion

I've seen other reports on the web. Basically not a real port and shouldn't be offered as a product if you can't get past the first level IMO.

Thanks for your feedback. We're still looking into this issue, which only appears on a certain class of hardware, regardless of operating system.

Can those having problems try this build?

Linux people:
    download this:
      http://treefort.icculus.org/shank/shank-linux-faster-render.tar.bz2

Unpack it, and the "Shank" binary you get should replace the one in the game's "bin" directory. Relaunch the game.

Mac people:
    download this:
      http://treefort.icculus.org/shank/shank-mac-faster-render.tar.bz2

double-click it, and you'll get a file named "Shank" ... go find your game icon, right-click (or control-click) it, select "Show Package Contents" from the popup menu. In the Finder window that pops up, open the "Contents" folder, then the "MacOS" folder under that. Replace the "Shank" file in this folder with the new one, and close all those folders. Relaunch the game.

Everyone report back with your findings.

Thanks!

On Linux with Intel HD 3000, it seems like it might be a little better, but still not great. It still seems to lose quite a few of my button presses.

Same for me : a little better in the whole game, still getting a framerate drop with the (wrong) Butcher.

Worked for me on Mac!

I didn't test at full res (I had degraded all settings), but it allowed me to play.

It doesn't help. This is on Linux with Intel GMA 4500MHD. FPS is still on the order of 1. Everything up to the boss runs fine.

I have not really played a lot so I cannot speak of the frame rate problem. However, using this build, the areas above and below the actual game started to flash... like showing the desktop/black/desktop/black... no other problems with graphics as it seems.

Same problem here - and the build won't work.

Fixed with the last mesa git version (15 sep 2012).

Still here with mesa 9.0.1 on fedora 18...

One year later, still can't play the game...
