Description Frederick Wrigley 2012-12-24 10:30:36 EST
When the game starts, there is no response to keypresses to skip past the introduction, and the "Press START" does not respond to mouseclicks. Some buttons indicate that the mouse pointer is over them, but do not respond to a click.

I understand the difficulty in porting this game; I'm happy enough to have another ***** game for Linux that I can be patient!

Alt+ Tab to another application and then back sometimes fixes the problem.

I wonder if this is specific to window managers. I see this under XFCE. Alt-tabbing didn't help but not pressing anything at all until the actual game intro starts did.

I have the same problem on my desktop: Ubuntu 12.04 using Gnome 2 with no desktop effects. I can try a different desktop and I considered installing/compiling my own SDL2 lib and seeing if that helps.

cinmay05, the ALT+TAB combo worked, with DD running in a window. Thanks!

Same issue here. Also seems to be hit and miss between launches. Alt + tab doesn't do anything either.

Running Mint 14 with Cinnamon.

Can you try this build?

http://treefort.icculus.org/dungeondefenders/dundef-linux-hotfix-03152013.tar.bz2

Download, unpack, and overwrite the appropriate files. Let me know if it fixes the issue.

Thanks,
--ryan.

For me, the hotfix fixed a regression with compatibility to upsteam libSDL2 (unable to skip intro with upstream libSDL2), but it does not let me past the Press START scene. Cinnamon 1.6.7 over Gnome 3.6.2 base on Gentoo Linux.

Thank you for looking into this.
Tried it twice with Ubuntu 12.04, Cinnamon 1.6 ppa and it still does not work.

This fixes the unresponsive keypresses/mouseclicks problem on a minimal Arch x86 system without window manager (just xinit running DD solely).

I had the opposite problem. Could not skip the intro videos, a very long blackscreen pause between the last video ending and the start screen showing up, then everything else worked.
I had told steam to install the game on my shared ntfs partition. After moving the game to the deafult steam location my home, I'm able to click to skip the intro videos, and the long unresponsive blackscreen pause before the start screen is gone.
