Description Mark Jentz 2004-05-21 14:50:07 EDT
I did a fresh install of ut2k4 from the DVD, then applied the 3204 patch (Not
the beta, but the real one :D). Been playing like crazy all day, works great,
nice job.

I downloaded the Community bonus pack (cbp2-volume1_zip.zip) and installed it.
When I tried to run it I got this crash:

I will also attach my UT2004.log file, which provides more details.

At any rate, I tried starting again and it worked. So I started
wondering....what is this all about. The I got the idea that all of those lines
about exporting maps from above involve some sort of caching. So I looked in my
.ut2004 folder and noticed that many files were saved in .ut2004/System. To make
a long story short, I can repeat the crash by removing my .ut2004 dir and
starting. After the one crash it runs ok, but I thought you might like to know
about this crash since it might be a symptom of something bigger... :P

And BTW...Thank you SOOOOOO much for the port!!! :D

FWIW, this would also happen with 3186 for me, so this is not a new issue
introduced with the 3204 patch.
Comment 5 Edward Rudd 2004-05-28 23:31:10 EDT
This seems to happen if the startup is delayed due to generating the UCL cache
files in the home directory.. If I add several new maps/models it always crashes
like this.. but the next run is fine.

I also find this when adding new maps, but also as of 3339 I get this error
running either Red Orchestra or Alien Swarm, which are the only mods I have
installed.

If you move some of the existing maps out of the Maps dir it will work (at least
for me)
