I did not think to do an apt-get install on my ubuntu box (11.10). So I tried to download the prebuilt binaries from the ioquake3.org pages.

However there are errors on startup which match the following but I managed to find via Google:

These Fedora users seem to think it is that strcpy isn't being used properly in the 64bit build.

This is probably Bug #3414, which was fixed in the source repository since the 1.36 release. If so, the (untested!) "Angst Builds" won't have this bug, and neither will 1.37 when it happens.

Yes, this seems to be a duplicate.
