german translation

redone, removed those small dots, checked for duplicate shortcuts (how are they
supposed to work?)
Comment 4 hungerburg 2003-09-29 10:59:58 EDT
why not put this file into cvs?

then add a file "LINGUAS" in po dir with a line "de" in it (and other languages
available), and it will be processed and installed. (still not used though.)

this one got a preview; and its up to 1.5.
Comment 7 Tim Riley 2003-10-07 07:55:42 EDT
Ben, can you please add this translation?
Comment 8 Dana Jansens 2003-10-07 10:46:56 EDT
This should be added to CVS
Comment 9 hungerburg 2003-10-07 15:39:20 EDT
this is now in cvs, but it should be named "de.po" instead of "de.gmo"
Comment 10 hungerburg 2003-10-07 15:41:40 EDT
you may also look at the patch above to make obconf actually use its
translations; it worked here; and if there arent any configure issues, it should
be no problem;

to test , just run $ LANG=de_AT obconf # at yr. prompt
Comment 11 Dana Jansens 2003-10-09 13:36:43 EDT
The makefiles look for de.gmo to install, not de.po, and the file is installed
as de.mo in the locale dir.

Added the code for using translations, my bad, I thought GTK+ did that implicitly.
Comment 12 hungerburg 2003-10-09 14:02:26 EDT
xx.gmo is a binary file, it is the result of processing xx.po with "msgfmt"
which - in debian - is part of the gettext package. probably this should be
added to the dependencies configure checks for.

when the po files are in cvs, it should be very easy to make translations and
keep them up to date, as the (auto)make keeps everything in sync, and make
maintainer changes smooth. (g)mo files are for binary distributions only.

README.translators

small readme text, that might be useful for future translators
Comment 14 Dana Jansens 2003-10-10 03:06:31 EDT
de.po:58:22: invalid multibyte sequence
de.po:102:50: invalid multibyte sequence
de.po:106:29: invalid multibyte sequence
de.po:106:44: invalid multibyte sequence
de.po:242:9: invalid multibyte sequence
/usr/bin/msgfmt: found 5 fatal errors

Whats going on with that?

add encoding to bugzilla mime-type; otherwise it will be sent as iso-88591-1

bugzilla bug? try charset for encoding.
Comment 18 Dana Jansens 2003-10-11 10:50:21 EDT
The latest attachement worked well. I have also added the UTF-8 call in CVS if
you didn't notice. Hope I didn't break this then. I added it since openbox uses
it as well.
Comment 19 hungerburg 2003-10-14 05:52:23 EDT
the adding of charset to the type of the "german translation" attachment in
bugzilla above worked well, now the correct header is sent to the browser.

as in cvs today still there is the broken "de.po" file, please update to this
one: https://bugzilla.icculus.org/attachment.cgi?id=112&action=view
whith Guido as the last translator.
Comment 20 Tim Riley 2006-03-07 03:02:12 EST
hungerburg, I have made a 1.6 release of obconf to fix a critical libglade bug. I made this release straight from the code that was in version 1.5. Ben has given me the old CVS repository and I plan to make another release soon incorporating your translation and some other improvements/fixes. Would you be able to assist if I have any trouble working with the i18n/l10n framework?
Comment 21 hungerburg 2006-03-07 03:10:48 EST
hello tim,

feel free to ask - I will answer if I can...
