Description Rob Gutermuth 2002-10-01 21:04:50 EDT
Hello,

I got my clan's full version server up and running (password protected) on my
Linux workstation (Red Hat 7.3, kernel 2.4.18-10smp), and I can connect using a
Windows client, but not the Linux client (I run a dual boot at home, Windows
2000 sp2 and uniprocessor version of same RH Linux dist as above)), unless I get
rid of the password protection!

This made me curious, so I did some testing. It turns out that the OS of the
server is not the problem... I ran a quickie test server on my older Windoz box
with password protection and without and tried to join using both Linux and
Windows... Again, Windows had no problem, and Linux client made it through if
the server was open but hung on the same server with password protection!

Will check.

In the old UT (converted from Loki) there was a similar problem, giving the
attribute of "only read" to the "user.ini" and "unrealtournament.ini" files
without any password saved inside was possible to access the servers, writing
every time the pass while entering. The same have been for UT2003 demo.
Now in the UT2003 final this bug has been extended and now is not possible to
do anything. If a server is password protected is impossible to enter.

I hope my analisi will help to cure this problem.

Can you try the workaround listed here:

Thanks!
